Appointments

The surgery phone lines open at 08:00am.  The practice has six incoming telephone lines, four of these lines fully staffed during the phone’s busiest times between 08:00am and 10:00am.

Asking for appointment reason
When telephoning for an appointment, you will now be asked the reason for your appointment. This is to help us book the correct appointment for you.  This will hopefully help you to see the correct person first time, and avoid the need for additional appointments.

Waiting to be seen

We endeavour to see all patients within 30 minutes of arrival. If however you are waiting longer please report the delay to a receptionist.

Booking ahead appointments
Following on from patient feedback to the practice, we are able to book appointments with a doctor, nurse, healthcare assistant up to 4 WEEKS in advance. THIS IS MORE THAN 2 FULL WEEKDAYS IN ADVANCE (asked in the Ipsos, MORI, G.P Patient Survey)

Same day or the next 2 weekdays doctor appointments
80% of the days doctor appointments are bookable on the day

You can always been seen by a doctor within 2 weekdays of requesting the appointment

  • Once all regular doctor appointments have been fully booked, we offer timed appointment slots at the end of regular morning surgery, as-long as you contact us before 11:30am.
  • If you contact us after 11:30am and an appointment is available, it shall be offered to you.  If there are no same-day face-to-face appointments left, a same-day telephone appointment will be offered to you instead.

Telephone doctor appointments
Telephone appointments are available throughout the day. If you feel your questions can be answered over the telephone, you can request a telephone consultation.  Although an exact time may not be able to be given for when the doctor will contact you, an approximate time guide is usually suggested.

The benefit of a telephone appointment is that the doctor can discuss your needs with you without you having to visit the surgery.  If, following the discussion the doctor recommends a face-to-face consultation, the doctor can book an appointment for you the same day.

Early-bird surgeries
Doctor appointments are now available from 07:00am to 08:00am Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.  These are pre-bookable appointments (booked in advance), via the internet or phone. The 08:00am to 18:30pm service continues.  Please note, our phone lines are still diverted to our out-of-hours service between 07:00 to 08:00am.

Online appointment booking
Patients have the ability to book their doctor appointment on-line over the internet.  This will save you having to phone and book doctor appointments.  You can still book appointments via the phone if you wish.  On-line booking is an additional option for booking appointments (i.e. you can use the phone or online).

Before you can start booking GP appointments online (or order repeat prescriptions) you must first register your details for this service.

It is quick and easy to register. You will need to come into the surgery for an application form and then you will be given the relevant details to enable you to set up an account and use the system.

Once registered you will be able to view any appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, or book a new appointment with the doctor.

When you book an appointment online you will receive confirmation which you can print off and bring with you when you attend the surgery. There is no need to reconfirm.

Please note that because of the many different types of nurse clinics and appointment lengths, the facility to book nurse appointments online is unavailable.
