When We Are Closed
If you are ill and the surgery is closed. What are your options?
STEP 1 - Can you deal with it yourself?
Pharmacy First - you may be able to get appropriate treatment from your pharmacy!
STEP 2 - Do you need more advice/treatment?
Call NHS 111 - NHS 111 will get you through to a team of highly trained advisors, who are supported by experienced nurses. They will assess your symptoms and guide you to the people you need to speak to. You should call NHS 111 when:
- Its not a 999 emergency
- You can't wait for an appointment with your GP
- You don't know who to call for medical help.
Alternatively:
Night and weekend duties for the surgery are covered by Nottingham Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) deputising services. If you need to contact a doctor out of surgery hours please telephone the surgery on the usual number (0115 960 6652) and your call will automatically be transferred through to NEMS.
or Visit the Walk in Centre - London Road.
STEP 3 - Is it an EMERGENCY?
In an emergency you can go to your nearest A&E department or call 999 for an ambulance. Remember that this should ONLY be used in emergencies.
NHS Direct
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
