Doctor Appointments

Please be mindful when telephoning to book an appointment that the busiest time of day is between the hours of 8:00am and 10:00am. Unless your enquiry is urgent you may wish to delay contacting us to avoid this busy period.

We operate six incoming telephone lines, with four of these fully staffed.

Asking for appointment reason

In order to ensure you receive the most appropriate care we will now ask you for a brief explanation of your reason for an appointment. Whilst this is not obligatory, providing us with this information is of great assistance to us. Please be assured this information will be treated in the strictest confidence. If you prefer not to pass this information to reception please decline politely when asked.

Waiting to be seen

We aim to see patients within 30 minutes of their allotted appointment time. Due to the nature of healthcare, on occasion appointments will run late and doctors may be delayed. We ask for your patience and understanding on such occasions. If your wait is longer than 30 minutes please inform a member of reception.

Booking ahead appointments

Following on from patient feedback to the practice, we are able to book appointments with a doctor, nurse, healthcare assistant up to 4 WEEKS in advance.This exceeds the requirements set out in the Ipsos, MORI, G.P Patient Survey

Same day doctor appointments

A large proportion of doctor appointments are now bookable in advance, however should you need to be seen on the same day, appointments will be available via our triage system.

Early Morning Appointments

Pre-bookable doctor appointments are available from 730am Monday to Friday and can be booked online or on the phone.

Please note, our receptionists are not available to answer the phone until the start of regular surgery hours at 800am.

Telephone Doctor Appointments

We offer telephone appointments at timed intervals throughout the day. If you feel your questions may be answered over the telephone, please request a telephone consultation. Although an exact time may not be given for the doctor to return your call, an approximate time guide is usually suggested. Please ensure you provide us with the most suitable telehone number on which to reach you.

The benefit of a telephone appointment allows the doctor to discuss your needs without the need to visit the surgery. If, following the discussion the doctor recommends a face-to-face consultation, the doctor may book an appointment for you the same day.

Automated Phone Service

• Use your phone to book, cancel or check your appointments without needing to speak directly to a receptionist.

• Phone the surgery anytime, even when we are closed.

• Call the usual number, and use your phone keypad to select the options

• You may encounter problems using the automated phone service if we do not have a record of your current phone number

Nurse Appointments

Our nurse team run a variety of clinics with a variety of appointment lengths. Therefore, different appointments often require booking into particular clinics with a specific nurse practitioner.

If we have written to you asking for you to contact the practice and make an appointment to see a nurse, please have that letter to hand when calling. The letter usually contains a reference code to make it quicker and easier for our reception team to book you into the right clinic with the relevant nurse.

Please note that because of the many different types of nurse clinics and appointment lengths, the facility to book nurse appointments online is unavailable.

We offer pre-bookable early morning nurse appointment on selected days throughout the week from 730am

Healthcare Assistants

Our Healthcare Assistants provide a wide range of appointments to include phlebotomy (bloods), blood pressure, ECG and flu vaccinations. Appointment times range from 5 to 10 minutes.

Home Visits

Please only request home visits when absolutely necessary. This facility is reserved for the truly homebound and patients who are terminally ill. This then maximises the amount of time we have to see patients at the surgery.

If you need a home visit, please telephone before 10:00am. The receptionist will ask you for your name, address and contact telephone number. The doctor may then ring you later for more information to assess whether a visit is necessary.

Visits will only usually be made to the address a patient is registered at with the practice.If the address given to visit is different to that you are registered at and the address falls outside the practice, the practice reserves the right to refuse a visit, and in some cases, will remove you and those residing at the same new address from our practice list.

NB. Our healthcare professionals reserve the right to decline a home visit if they feel that the environment is unsafe or potentially damaging to their health.
